“All levels of government are working to improve access to mental health care.”
In Australia, all levels of government – local, state and federal – are responsible for the delivery of mental health care services.
Many organisations are committed to representing the needs of those Australians experiencing mental illness. These groups, including SANE Australia, MIFA, the Mental Health Council of Australia and others, are involved in a range of activities to help improve Australia’s mental health system.
Some of these activities involve talking directly to government, to help shape mental health policy.
To meet the needs of those living with schizophrenia, we must all continue to speak out about mental illness. You can do this by contacting your state or federal Member of Parliament about mental health issues. You can also join an advocacy organisation, such as MIFA or SANE, and ask them to represent your views.
