Alcohol, cigarettes and illegal drugs are available in our community. Like anyone else you will have to choose whether you use these drugs and accept the effect they may have on your health.

Illegal drug use or the misuse of alcohol may cause difficult behaviour and so, present challenges to those people involved in your care. Also, some drugs can trigger psychotic episodes and relapse of your illness.

Choosing to smoke, drink or take illegal drugs as a way to help manage your condition is a short term solution and often comes at the cost of seeking healthier and more sustainable forms of support.
